I just thought that I'd point it out as I hadn't seen anyone else mention it. Everything else seems to be working fine though so far. The thing which sold me on Rhino (apart from being ½ the price) was it gave me the ability to do accurate modelling. formZ is suitable for both novices and professionals and comes with multiple demos and tutorials. formZ is very useful for architects and industrial users, as well as urban designers and illustrators that use 3D forms and spaces. The new features in FormZ 8.5 gave some great abilities which appear to be missing from Rhino however, I can’t imagine myself ever using those features in a real project. formZ is a general purpose surface modeling utility that comes with an extensive set of tools to manipulate and sculpt. I figured that there would be some minor compatibility issues with 10.7. And FormZ developers seem much more Mac oriented. (The issues you note do not happen on other operating systems.) 10.7 is not yet officially supported, but formZ should generally run properly on this new OS. Yes, there are some little issues with Apples new 10.7 OS, and we are working on adjusting to the changes that Apple has made. The palettes are apparently still loaded but invisible because if I click on the desktop (or another program) and then go back to FormZ they appear again, they just seem to disappear on Tech I believe it's the order that they are loaded during start-up because they appear first, then the other palettes load and the first three disappear. I don't know if this is a v7 issue or a Mac OS X 10.7 issue but when I start the beta, I some times get the FormZ 7 start-up screen and some times don't, after that, I lose the Modeling Tools palette, and the Reference Pane Tools and the Snap Tools palettes. I didn't want to start a new thread so I'm posting this here. Yes, the Tool Manager is a special mode that allows you to manipulate the tools, but you need to close this to continue working. Macbook, OSX 10.6.7 4GigRAM 127 Gig Available on Tech I have sent some of those file examples- Actually, now i see that merely opening the Tool Manager incapacitates most of the beta menus and tools. You support people are needless to say like guardian angles TechĬan you please zip and send this folder to so we can see if we can tell what might have happened? Software and OS developers surely have come a long way since earlier formz betas. Thanks Support, the 3rd option did the trick. If not, does Quitting formZ, going to the HOME: Library: Preferences: autodessys: folder, and moving the formZ 7.0 folder to the desktop fix the problem? If not, if you go to the Workspace Menu and reset the Workspace, does this fix the tools? If you go to Preferences and click Reset to Defaults, does this fix it? Still having greyed out menus.Īlso, i have run version 6 and 7 side by side. Trashed first beta files, placed copy of formZ files to application files, reopened, again-registered online. After a some hours of formZ use and rebooting and even Permissions Repair.
